Day 10 A Zero
Today was a day of rest and good food. I’ve really liked staying in Bryson City NC. It’s a small mountain town with lots of great spots to eat and our motel hit the perfect sweet spot for hikers. It’s comfortable and everything we need is within walking distance. After resting my legs feel great and my ankle is on the mend. It is still slightly swollen and bruised but it holds my weight fine and doesn’t hurt as long as my leg isn’t too tight.
We had breakfast at this awesome local diner and the food was amazing. Planning on eating there again tomorrow before heading back to the trail.
Tomorrow we will ascend 4,000 feet from the NOC back up into the mountains. We will probably do 10-15 miles. The weather looks good for the next couple days. We will be at Fontana Dam in two days. Then from there we enter the Smoky Mountain National Park, our biggest challenge yet.
Anyway I’m headed to bed.
Goodnight,
Walker
