Day 41 Chestnut Knob

We hiked the whole 26 miles and made it to Chuck and Donna’s house for dinner.

I didn’t sleep great last night. We had an animal hang around our tent site for a few hours. Not sure what it was, but it’s never fun having a wild animal hanging around while trying to sleep.

We woke up around 6:30 and were hiking by 7:45. We climbed Chestnut Knob for the first 4 miles of the day. The weather held out for us and we could make out some mountains through the fog.

The top of Chestnut has a 4 walled stone shelter and a pretty good view.

After Chestnut the trail was a lot flatter and we made it through 19 miles before 4PM. Since we still had plenty of time left in the day, we took a break to wash our feet in a stream and eat a snack.

The last couple miles were a gravel road walk, looking down into the valley.

We were all sore and ready for a day off. We met Chuck at a road crossing at 6:45 and grabbed dinner from Arby’s. Chuck then brought us to his house where we hung out for a couple hours. It’ll be very nice taking a whole day off tomorrow.

Goodnight,

Walker
