Day 50 Into Daleville

We hiked out to Daleville before the rain really even started and have had a very restful half day.

I slept well last night. We had an awesome campsite by a stream and it barely rained at all. I woke up around 6:30 and we started hiking around 7:45.

With only 9 miles to town we hiked quickly. The section of trail had minimal elevation change so it felt very easy. Shockingly, the most rain we had was a light mist. The descent was mostly foggy.

We made it to town by 10:40, grabbed Mexican food for lunch and checked into our hotel. Daleville is pretty decent sized town and the trail passes right through the edge of it. Our hotel is about a tenth of a mile from the trail.

For the rest of the day we will resupply, do laundry, and relax. The weather for the next week looks beautiful, and we expect to be at the southern end of the Shenandoah National Pack by the end of the week. Tomorrow we plan to hike just over 20 miles.

We are starting to see more small animals on the trail. Today we saw a few orange newts and  what I think was a woodland box turtle.

I’m going to enjoy relaxing.

We haven’t had great reception, but now that we are in town I have been able to upload pictures and get caught up. I added pictures to days 46, 47, 48, and 49 if you want to check those out.

Goodnight,

Walker
