Day 90 Slow and Steady
I hiked an easy 17.5 mile day to let Spencer catch up and not get too far ahead of Tyler.
Ashley left for work at 5AM this morning so I woke up to see her off then slept another couple hours. I ate leftover pizza for breakfast then had some food from the continental breakfast. I shuttled back to the trail at 9AM and started hiking.
The trail today didn’t have anything spectacular to show, but there were a few good views. For the most part the trail went through lower elevation with thick forests and some wildflowers.
As I was walking through a field I heard a noise right behind me and a bearded turkey popped out about 5 yards away. It clucked and ran across the trail.
I then climbed up to a ridge that had a few good views of MA and CT.
Overall I took my time today. I stopped at most of the overlooks and just sat enjoying the view for a while. Towards the end of the day the bugs got really bad as I hiked past some ponds and streams.
I had one last good view to end the day then dropped down to camp. I got to camp around 5:30 and was completely set up by 6. Pretty soon I will eat dinner and Spencer should show up eventually.
Tomorrow we plan to hike around 20 miles. The trail looks really easy so it should be a very chill day. Hiking slower than normal should let Tyler catch up after he starts hiking tomorrow.
The weather looks like rain starting Saturday and continuing all next week. We will see what happens but we may get very wet in Vermont.
Goodnight,
Walker
